Caricature is a genre of fine art in which the characters of a work are drawn in a satirical or humorous form. In a caricature, the author deliberately distorts the facial features and figures, as well as the behavior of the characters in order to mock them. The comic effect is also achieved through the methods of artistic exaggeration and unexpected juxtaposition of well-known facts. The name of the term “caricature” comes from the Italian word caricare (to load, to exaggerate).
Cartooning is a genre of art with a pronounced social and critical orientation. It often becomes an effective tool in combating the vices of society, negative phenomena in the social, political and domestic spheres of life. Light-hearted caricature images allow to convey the main idea of a satirical work in an accessible form to the mass viewer.
